CLASSIC PASTELS AND PAINTINGS
These are my favorite pastels and paintings from my journey as a fine artist. I rendered imaginary furniture in pastel on paper and placed each image behind an actual window, implicating human relationships in rooms. And then I decided to paint the next furniture-creatures in oil on canvas and move them from rooms to imaginary outside settings.

"One feels the artist's sense of liberation in making these paintings. They're the sort of images a painter might fantasize about putting in a company's catalog, knowing they would never win management's approval."
— Paul Parcellin, Art New England, Aug/Sept. 1999

"Baldwin is able to create a narrative through deft use of minimal pictoral information."
— Catherine S. Mayes, booklet accompanying "More Unique Seats", Art Complex Museum, Duxbury, MA, 2000
